Rib Eye Steak with Onion Blue Cheese Sauce for a Decadent Dinner
A rich and creamy topping takes this grilled steak to the next level.
A perfectly cooked rib eye steak is already a treat, but adding a creamy onion and blue cheese sauce takes it to another level. This indulgent recipe pairs the bold flavors of Worcestershire sauce, caramelized onions, and tangy blue cheese with a tender, juicy steak for a restaurant-quality meal at home.
Ingredients
4 rib eye steaks (5 ounces each)
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 stick (½ cup) butter, softened
1 large yellow onion, sliced
1 cup heavy cream
3 to 4 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
¾ cup crumbled blue cheese
Directions
Preheat the Grill
Heat your grill to high or prepare a hot outdoor grill. (You can also cook the steaks in a skillet over medium-high heat.)
Season the Steaks
Sprinkle the steaks with salt and black pepper.
Spread ½ stick of butter on both sides of the steaks.
Grill the Steaks
Cook for 3 to 4 minutes per side until medium-rare.
Remove from heat and keep warm.
Prepare the Blue Cheese Sauce
Melt the remaining ½ stick of butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Add the sliced onions and sauté until golden brown, about 7 to 8 minutes.
Pour in the heavy cream, a dash of salt and pepper, and the Worcestershire sauce.
Let the mixture bubble, then stir in the blue cheese until melted and smooth.
Adjust seasoning with extra Worcestershire sauce or black pepper if desired.
Serve and Enjoy
Plate the steaks and spoon the sauce generously over the top.
Serve with roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, or a crisp green salad.
